Base timing questions..

Well I would like to Make between 350 and 400 hp, using the stock poundage injectors and the 255lph pump I have in there....I think i have the setup to make that much HP assuming that I have the right turbo, the right way to cool it and a good tune on the engine.....Any suggestions on a quick spooling turbo?

The stock injectors will not support that much power...about 280-300rwhp is the absolute max.

Super quick spool will cost you. You'll want to look into the new GT series turbos from Garrett.

Another easy way to get better spool up is the add a header. My 50 trim hybrid got full boost at 3600 or so on my SVO when I had a stock manifold, swapped to my header and now full boost is at 3000-3100 rpm.

Thats a good point about the header stinger never thought about that, what type of header do you have? Where can I find info on those turbos and their spool time at?

I have a Stinger Performance header (www.stinger-performance.com).

The turbo is a T04E 50 trim/Stage III .63 ar hot side. It's also known as an SC50 from Precision turbo. They are typically 650-750 dollars new.

wow a turbo with that big of trim gets full boost at 3000 rpms? Thats crazy.....I get full boost with my IHI at 15 psi at about 28-2900.....Would you not consider your turbo quick spooling because of that?

How quick do you think a .48 AR with a header like that would spool?

Are there are headers that flow as good as yours but in stock position?

I run a home made t3/t4 on my 2.5l. No doubt the IHI will spool faster. But it will run out of flow much sooner too... Also, do not equate PSI to air flow. At 3k rpm I get about 15psi... But what is important, is the air flow.... A well sized t3/t4 will produce more air flow at lower temps then the IHI.

At 3k RPM, only part throttle and 5psi... my motor is seeing a EEC calculated load of "2" because the air flow is higher with the hybrid at 5psi then the IHI at 10psi or higher...

I run a .48 AR, Stage 3 turbine, header, 3"DP and a MAF conversion... All of those helped the spooling to the point that it is close to IHI. I added each one by one after the motor was up & running and could see the improvement of each. But the top end power is way beyond any thing the IHI could deliver. I run a max of 24psi with the hybrid. The IHI maxed at 19psi and under some conditions would not produce the 19 psi at higher rpm...it would just ran out of flow and over heat the air....

After two & half years of beating the heck out of it on the street, I am going to pull the motor this spring and freshen it up....also correct a few minor issues and upgrade a few things... But I am thinking of a upgraded Ball Bearing center....

Also, you need to consider how restrictive the exhaust side the IHI really is and 2.5l makes that even worse. Buy going to a stage 3 turbine, you will lose some spooling but gain a more responsive motor. I found the off boost throttle response improved. Finally with a 2.5l you can take advantage of a larger throttle body...

My SVO (stock T3) spools just as quick. All 15 psi by 2800. Good exhaust helps spool time. Actually, I think mine spools TOO fast. I'd like to find a HY and build/buy a header. Can't afford that right now though.

I hate the fact that the motor falls on it's face at 5000 rpm. Floor it, boost by 2800, pulls "ok" to about 4800 then falls off pretty fast. Makes it feel like a Yamaha Blaster...if it made power up higher, it'd be a bit faster. If only I had the money for a ported head & bigger turbo/ecu/injectors....
