I run a home made t3/t4 on my 2.5l. No doubt the IHI will spool faster. But it will run out of flow much sooner too... Also, do not equate PSI to air flow. At 3k rpm I get about 15psi... But what is important, is the air flow.... A well sized t3/t4 will produce more air flow at lower temps then the IHI.

At 3k RPM, only part throttle and 5psi... my motor is seeing a EEC calculated load of "2" because the air flow is higher with the hybrid at 5psi then the IHI at 10psi or higher...

I run a .48 AR, Stage 3 turbine, header, 3"DP and a MAF conversion... All of those helped the spooling to the point that it is close to IHI. I added each one by one after the motor was up & running and could see the improvement of each. But the top end power is way beyond any thing the IHI could deliver. I run a max of 24psi with the hybrid. The IHI maxed at 19psi and under some conditions would not produce the 19 psi at higher rpm...it would just ran out of flow and over heat the air....

After two & half years of beating the heck out of it on the street, I am going to pull the motor this spring and freshen it up....also correct a few minor issues and upgrade a few things... But I am thinking of a upgraded Ball Bearing center....

Also, you need to consider how restrictive the exhaust side the IHI really is and 2.5l makes that even worse. Buy going to a stage 3 turbine, you will lose some spooling but gain a more responsive motor. I found the off boost throttle response improved. Finally with a 2.5l you can take advantage of a larger throttle body...
