What will happen if I remove the iac?

yes if the car idle is not setup right then you will need to bump it up..your idle should be were you want it with the plug out then you plug it back in
Function before form. Going fast is looking good!

Thanks
You'd have to unplug it as you revved the engine to ensure it is really closed...right?

It's a motor and it should stop at whatever posistion it's unplugged at and stay there...Could be wrong. :dunno: [/b]
It isnt a motor as such.... it is a solenoid driven by a 40 Hz PWM signal. Unless stuck in the open position, with electrical connector off, it is closed.

Mine runs fine, and it's quite awkward... Mines disconnected, and the idle is set manually.... I've started it on 40 degree mornings without a problem at all.... What is kinda funny, WITHOUT THE IAC HOOKED UP it will idle at about 800 (Where I have it set too) Other times it will idle itself up to about 2000, a couple seconds later it immediatly drops back down to 800.... :dunno:

I have done 3 xr's now and blocked off the iac on all of them.I'm in ohio so it gets cold but after the frist little rev it will idle itself no matter what temp is.I have the cars setup for not running it though. The idle is turned up to 1200 and the tps is set for it also. One of the best mods, death to the iac.

CruzNLife1: That 2000 RPM problem is probably caused by a bad TPS.

Thanks for the info Jeff K. I guess that's what makes it different from a set motor design.. I am correct that the step motor idle air control will just stop where it is when unplugged and not close...right??

aha! i have in my possession a idle setup that comes from ford. it fits between the iac and the tb. it has 2 idle adjust screws. i assume that is made to basically do away with the iac.
