rev limiter for launches
#1

I've been reading through the archives...a ton... and found a lot of threads where poeple say they're running MSD 6AL's and the like. I was under the impression they cause problems with these engines and stock stuff is what you want to stick with..? I'd like to stick with the stock stuff if at all possible, while having a 2 stage rev limiter for launches. Will either of the MSD soft touch boxes work with the stock ignition? PLEASE tell me it will, guys! :tfrules:
It's more fun to race cheap junk.

You've been missled - the MSD6AL and MSD Digital 6 work GREAT with these motors.

You can setup a two step without an MSD6AL... but it requires the Soft Touch rev control box (PN8728 - $95) and a Two Step Module Selector (PN8739 - $60)

So that is $155.

Seems to me I'd rather spend the money once and get a 6AL with a two step ($255 total) or a Digital 6 ($280 with BUILT IN two step).

It would certainly suck to spend $155 only to find out that the stock ignition won't cut it and open the wallet again. :o
Living isnt to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting 'holy sh**, what a ride!'

I have Digital 6 on the Pinto and a 6al on the Merk.....I launch off the 2 step in the Pinto at 4 grand and see 10psi. Of course this usualy blows the drag radials all to hell but it sure sounds cool!

The Digital 6 is the best buy, as it has the 2 step, soft touch, start retard, 2 stage retard, built in (no chips needed either)

I have a boost retard module on the Merk that pulls WAY too much timing so be careful of those as I think mine was made for an 8 cyl.
