1969 Datsun install
#21

Nice! I'd be pretty happy with mid 10's Smile

Picked up an 87/88 merkur harness and module from a TFer today. Mainly for the harness but thought the module may be usable to start. The Ecu is coded PF3, will that be usable in my application as a temp?

Well, I'm picking up on this project again... although a little re-directed. New user name obviously as I had forgotten that I use to have an account!!  Huh Didn't even remember this thread, just found it when searching for Datsun info  Smile

The little Datsun I started this thread with was eventually vandalized to the point that it was not worth saving. I had it parked on my property and someone took a fence post and a bunch of rocks to it Sad I assume it was a bunch of kids out partying or something. All windows were broken out and pretty much every panel was beat up. I spent a few years deciding what to do next and have purchased a few of the 620 model trucks in the meantime. I now have two of them that i'm combining to make one for this engine swap. I'll try to get this thread caught up to my current status.

Started by pulling the engine and doing some clean-up work on the gray one.

Dropped the 2.3 in there just to see what the fitment was going to look like

Fits WAY better than i thought it was going to! Downpipe routing may take some work and I have to make a decision about whether to modify the tunnel about 1 1/2 higher or modify one crossmember and the steering a little bit. I'll look at both options a little closer further along in the process.

Finished stripping down the rest of this cab. I'll be using this cab, the frame from the red truck (factory front disc brakes and ball joint front end rather than king pin) and maybe the bed from the red truck as well.

Even got my 9 year old daughter to pitch in some elbow grease!

Drivetrain is out of this one now too (no pics). I'm headed to King of the Hammers Friday and then I'll hopefully be back hard at this when I get back the 2nd week in February! Look fwd to picking your brains when I get to engine work.

The T5 transmission that will eventually end up in there

Stripped the 2.3 down to do an internal check... not the worst I've seen, but surely not the best. I'll get her all cleaned up, hone the cylinders, check the head over, throw some new rings/bearings in there and be good to go for now.

There's no doubt about that. Not looking forward to the next 8 years in that regard... haha
