Just want to say at this time.
Thanks for the participation, years of knowledge shared, and my Fathers help and hoarding of certain needed parts.
Always very appreciated.

My wife and 26 year old son went for a drive around our little South East Idaho town yesterday .
Huge grins on both faces when they finally came back.

I may have lost my little car now...ugh
ahahahahaaa.
Lots to tinker still and more to do.
But thanks again for following along my simple little build.

Just a small update of sorts.
Ive been driving the little car around the last month now that the snow has all but long gone.

It's been doing amazing and I'm extremely happy with it.

Yesterdays project on it was to replace back dash and make a top rear seat cover to hide the original seam pull parts from shrinking.
Used Leather for both application along with 3/16 Masonite chip board for rear dash deck. (Trunk Car)
 Came out Wonderfull with help from my father and his his better tools along with his upholstery sewing machine.

Todays journeys are to go back threw and check all bolts fluids and ETC again.
I still need to purchase and install a vacuum and boost gage combo.
Also going to put a timing light back on it.

I was getting a "poof" of smoke on start up after driving it and it being warmed up to temp (190 degree)
Valve guide seals were pretty sure.
I did add some Marvel mystery oil in and that seemed to eliminate the little problem for now, But I will get a kit ordered and have at the seals this this summer to get them freshened up.

Other then that, I will be going forth with a 5 speed swap too shortly.
I run out of steam no doubts with the little BFG tires and stock 4 speed and the lower then normal gear ratio on rear end. (3000 rpm at 60 mph) ahahahaaa
Little car runs out though to 110 mph very quickly. 

Well that's the small "what's up and goings on in my lil world.

As you've apparently figured out......those symptoms of getting a brief puff of smoke upon startup after an extended shutdown when warm ~ are almost assuredly being caused by leaking/seeping v/stem seals.

They're not that difficult to replace, using a spark-plug air adapter to hold the valves closed and a lever-type v/spring compressor. Just be sure to remove all the followers first (has to be done anyways) AND to keep your hands clear of the drive belt(s) &/or fan when the motor "flops" (caused by the air pushing the piston[s] down).  <thumbup>

I watched my father go threw his Turbo Pinto Valve guides recently and add new injectors. Piece of cake indeed.
I just need to get a kit ordered still and do mine.

On the subject of my little car..... 
Almost been daily driving it for months now.....I did slip in some new NJK spark plugs.....and have acquired a intermittent miss once in awhile. "ugh"
Plans are to put the stock plugs back in now. 
Also had to throw in a new thermostat as the temps have been mid 90's and it was borderline getting in the 210 range here and their. 
New thermostat has helped a Bunch to keep it at the 190 range. (stock pinto radiator and 5 bladed fan) 

The good news is......
I just acquired another cute little 1997 sport side, 2 wheel drive, 2.5l Ranger....Cost $500.00
Gear selector tube on column broke, and stuck in drive.
NEW Part already ordered along with wheels and tires package....... (wink) 
Farmer John had big eyes when all I did was hop under it, put it in park, started truck, selected drive.....and drove it home.....ahahahaaaa.

So anywhooooo, I might share another silly little 2.3l... BUDGET ...Turbo swap into it.   Donor car 1985 TC, 5 speed ...freebie.
Lots of research now to figure out a direction and plan of attack.

As long as you don't have strict smog-related restrictions in your neck of the woods as I do, here in smog-nazi CA......it sounds like fun. Just use the TC's computer & engine-wiring harness. You MIGHT also need to upgrade the f/pump, depending upon how much boost you intend to run.

Unfortunately, the stock T5 shifter location is too far back for comfortable driving in the Ranger (plus, it will interfere with a bench seat if so equipped). Fortunately for me, the guy who built my '87 2.3T Ranger swapped to a Chevy S-10 tail housing and related parts ~ plus a Hurst shifter with about a 14-ish-inch lever ~ which places the shifter about 10-in farther forward, and in the perfect spot (see pic below).  <thumbup>
