I mocked up one in my 65, it fit fine, I did not have the turbo/manifold on it, and the turbo may have been close tot the shock tower, but fab up some motor mounts, and it should sit just fine..
I did end up using my efi 302 in it, but someday I am sure it will have a 2.3t in it.

PICS OF MY XR, FOLVO STUFF, AND...
for a few bucks you can get a cable clutch conversion for your stock pedal set from
www.mustangsteve.com use a x member from windsorfox and all you have to do then is get motor mounts. if the turbo won't clear the shock tower a crites tower kit will prob help you out. or just cut and notch it yourself.

'62 fairlane - working on EFI Turbo 250" Aussie swap
thanks guys! reason i'm asking is because it's a 6 banger/3 speed right now and gutless. i got smoked by a honda! and i don't like that. also would the 3.73ls fit the in 66 housing
PERSONALLY, I would just put a small block in there... but I do like the 2.3t idea...

my fairlane has a advertised weight of 2700# but that is for a barebones 170/3spd non 500 fairlane. which is what I have. basicly it is a steel shell with motor.
the sixes can be hoped up kinda cheap if you have a 200.
there are aussie sixes that range from AL headed crossflow 221's to SOHC to DOHC to a turbo DOHC. they make tons of torque and pretty good power. the crossflow and sohc motors are getting older so they can be had cheap and built up cheap. so for $500 you could prob get a usable engine for a driver with a header on it.
there is a guy on
www.fordsix.com that put a crossflow 250 in his stang with a sds setup and t5. had a header and cam it in. wasn't insanely fast but was basicly bone stock still. he spent $5k on it all together but has a real nice car.
for a 2.3L swap you will need a pinto/courier oilpan or mod your old one into a front sump. I would moved the turbo forward a little (hung off 1/2 runner instead of the 3/4) bob40lee can prob make you a header for a little extra like that. what are you looking for? drag car? driver? autox? I still have a 2.3L on the board along with a turbo inline (both need work and I got plaenty of time to build either) so if you are looking for any info let me know.

it will be a 50/50 street/drag car and needs to be a 100% honda killer! i hate hondas. right now it has 200. i can make a header and all the other stuff myself. i think the 4banger would be the cheeps't way to get fast.
