anyone use 2 aluminium spare tire rims as front drag rims?
#1

Hi guys I can get another alum spare tire rim for $5. I was wondering if anyone here uses them for front runners at teh track? Are they safe to use if I swap on good tires?
Thanks

yes... drag rims and as daily drivin' rims!

never had a problem... I've heard about some tracks/inspectors giving people flack about the rims, but I always paint mine black so they look like steel...

Just curious, what years did they come with? I've got one with my '83 but not the other two.

technically those tires aren't suppose to see over 50 mph.... BUT since they are almost solid, they'd probably be able to handle over 300 mph in short bursts....
Anyway good luck.

I just got my set today! They were in the trunk of an 83 TC I bought. They are even already polished! Tires should be easy enough to find.
