anyone use 2 aluminium spare tire rims as front drag rims?

Anyone know offhand what the dimensions are for rims that will fit an SVO? (bolt spacing, diameter, backspacing, everything...) Will 15s fit?

Aren't they the same dimensions as the 98-ish Cobras?

I used them on my supercharged 5.0 mustang and they worked great. No trouble from the teck crew up here.....just DON'T use the tires that are on them! I think i used a volkswagon bug tire on mine...not sure but they were dot approved.

yup, I just use "volkswagen" tires (165r15's) they're usually just under $30 a piece...

Pirelli makes 135r15's at ~$60 a piece, if you want to be street "legal" and have the least weight/rolling resistance...

'84 SVO shop manual shows the factory rims at 16"x7" 5 on 4.5 bolt circle with a 1.75 backspacing. The later cobra wheels will fit if you machine .040 off the inside or machine the lip off your spindles. Have to do one or the other so they don't rub. It was easier to machine the spindles..................T

Oops, I clicked too soon...

I ran the "Ghetto skinnies" (that's a good one, Kurt!) for several years on street and track with no problems. I used both 165R-15s, and MT frontrunner drag tires on them. I even went as far as putting rivets in them, and polishing to make them look like centerlines.
