BASE system for $1200 shipped. then the wideband. then the software. you're still looking at around $1800.

$2400 installed? take it! i know i would.

brice (owner of alamo) has done wonders with autronics.

I know the software is pretty complicated, but it seems like it has a lot of nice features. A lot of people seem to like the system, but I'd appreciate any kind of "heads up" on it...

repinning it sucks. but! the clincher for me *aside from the rudimentary tuning features* was that of the 3 i have seen used, only ONE worked. the rest would tell you your brand-****ing-new AEM PCm wasn't the correct calibration for the included software... i.e. you couldnt change a ****ing thing. car would never start.

I'm not too impressed with how AEM units are designed for particular cars. If you ever wanted to sell the car or part it out, you couldn't take the AEM and throw it on something different, you would have to start from scratch.

Hmmm...did AEM ever correct the problem? I don't mind adapting the harness, but I want something that works 100%.
I looked at the Stinger EMS 8860 - looks like a good system for the money, I just don't like the idea of an internal MAP sensor. Does anyone know if the 8860 will do staged injection and use an external MAP sensor if desired?

then i wouldn't buy AEM. for $2000 i would snap up a Autronics and not ever buy the AEM. heck, its a crapshoot to get one that works!

i wouldnt walk across the street to piss on AEMs doorstep if it was on fire.

oh, they make a nifty cold air system Rolleyes

How come no one mentioned the F.A.S.T. stand alone. A little pricey at 2000.00 but you wanted to know the best for the money.

AEM is designed as a plug and play. If they don't make one for your car, you are almost on your own.

The basic Honda Civic box is the simplest and cheapest one, and the one guys use to adapt as "stand alones". $1780 us

Nothing wrong with AEM. 99.9% of all AEM problems are user.

It is the top of the line as far as stand alones (besides some of the $10,000+ systems). Very complex, and a lot to learn, but TONS of base maps available. Unbelievable array of options, uses, and the software is the most rock solid I have seen, full proof data logging, internal memory logger etc...

If I HAD to buy a stand alone, without a doubt, it would be BigStuff 3 though .... same guy that built and designed Accels original, then the FelPro (fast) etc...

Is there anything that has NOT be recommended yet? If so, please tell me off-line so I can be the first one to suggest it in this thread...

Motec, Autronics, pectel will make FAST look like childs play, like twEEcer, LOL. do some reading, the amount of paramters of control a good standalone has over FAST is overwhelming.
