ever heard the sound of a jet on the movies when they pull into a bay at the airport, and they wind down? thats what my car sounds like if i go to the clutch after hitting any boost. oh yeah, its louder than all hell. 2 1/2" downpipe, with no muffler or cat.

LA3 computer, 16 pounds of boost and 4.10 gears. this makes a good starting point. soon to come: a 13 second timeslip

I hear that... my Dodge Cummins turbo diesel has a 3" straight pipe all the way out, and you can hear that baby whistling down like crazy!

can't wait for the 12cm turbine housing and the 4" exhaust! [Image: biggrin.gif]

Don- you ever tested the sound levels with a dB meter? As of 1/1 in CA, you can have whatever exhaust system you want (as long as you have a cat) as long as it's under 95dB measured 50ft away. I'd like to go muff-less on my SVO (retaining the cat), but want to make sure it'll be under 95dB.

Conrad, I think the operative word in your question is CHEAP. I got a "Cherry Bomb" at Autozone for 15 bucks. I used it in a temporary situation, and it works great. It has a deep tone, not loud, and I found out that it actually has good flow charteristics. HNY. Thanks
If it ain't old, it ain't s***!!!!

A cheap good muffler would be a Summit Racing Brand "Turbo style" muffler. Cheap, would quite it down and it isn't chambered.
