How do these engines handle oil surge in the pan? My car should be quite easily pull over 1 G in the corners and dont want to starve the oil pump and toast the engine or turbo. Is dry sumping nessesary or will baffles surfice. What do the circle track guys do?
Thanks
Dale
Since you are going to refuse our reality and replace it with your own anyway, make up your own mind.
These turbo thingies is fun when they don't be broke.
Very funny, Although I may have my own reality I also know enought to look for information form those you know more than I about different things- hell and theres many of them-
Has anyone had problems with loss of oil pressure under heavy turning loads when autocrossing or such. It obviously holds up under heavy acceleration.
I dont want to have to go that route but if its nessesary I would like to start looking for the cash and ways of doing it.
The car is going to be along the lotus seven style.
Thanks
Dale
I can't see the need for a dry sump in your situation.A properly deepend and baffled pan should do the job nicely and is a hell of a lot cheaper.

If you were considering circle track or road racing, maybe..., but dry sumping seems a bit over the top for an autocross car. The cornering duration times for autocross are shorter then road racing or circle track, so a pan with proper baffling should do the trick. A windage tray will be beneficial as well.
You're putting a 2.3L (turbo?) in a Lotus 7 chassis? That's very cool, and its just going to be positively stupid-fast!
How about an
Accusump plumbed into the oiling system? This will take care of short term oil pressure dips, and is also less expensive then dry sumping.

Thanks for the options, I hope to try a couple of solo or one of the mosport driver training weekends and such but just want to protect the investment so to say. Its more on a long sweeping corner that the problem would occour and I doubt that I will be getting at that level of competion.
Yes it will be the turbo as well- Rolling chassis is just about done but it will be another year or so till the cars on the road.
It should be a fun toy-
