Electric Fuel Pump
#1

I am looking for a very rare electric fuel pump for my 1980 Turbo Cobra with an automatic trans. All manual Cobras used a mechanical pump but the 134 automatics built used an electric pump. The pump number is listed below.

Ford# E0ZF-9A407-AA
Carter# P74561H

Thanks,

FGM

The only exact match that I've found is the eBay listing that shows "currently sold out" ( LINK )...... which you've probably already seen. I suggest contacting the seller and asking if he/she is anticipating receipt of any more. OTOH, if the float and gauge-sender portion of your existing hanger is okay...... I would replace just the fist-sized pump that mounts thereon. I'm reasonably sure that one of the aftermarket pump mfrs (Walbro, Aeromotive, AEM, etc.) has one that will work just fine. My 2¢......  <shrug>

I would think any of the smaller in-tank lift pumps would be more than fine for this. As Ray mentioned, unless your whole assembly is corroded/toast, just replace the pump itself.

The '79 turbo Pace Car we had eons ago had been converted by a previous owner to the in-tank electric pump to feed the carb.

EDIT:  Hmmm....... it hadn't even occurred to me, until seeing Chuck's post (above), that your "Turbo Cobra" is one of them thar 1st-gen carbed draw-thru versions. It's been a long time since I've worked on one of those plumber's nightmares, so I don't recall whether or not they had a separate/external pressure regulator, like the later EFI versions (probably not). If not, make sure that the pump you get is a low-pres model for a carburetor. I.e., it should be internally regulated to no more than 5-6 psi. <shrug>

Yeah. I think ours was dead-headed at the carb, and was using one of the low-pressure lift pumps in the tank.

We didn't have the car long enough for me to fiddle with it too much, as the fuel system wasn't really an issue. I'd have to dig into my '80 manuals to see what the system set-up was "stock" on the OP's car.

OP, is your stock hanger assembly corroded/damaged? Or is the pump just not working?

Pump failed. Finally found a Delphi pump DFP-FE0127-11B1 that is exactly like the original, runs like new. I'm guessing it had an electric pump because it was a C3 automatic. My other 1980 2.3L Turbo Cobra with a 4-speed I bought new has a mechanical fuel pump....
