yall ever go out to Lakeland? I know its a dumpy track, but its alot closer to me than Sunshine. Im about to give the GTI a really hard, swift, kick in the ass and see how it works out.
Your MPH is rockin and rollin daggy. What is your ET lookin like? You should be well into the 7s, which should have you well into the 11s on the big track.
Considerin the type of power you have to be making, I wouldnt be suprised if your turbo was getting 'unhappy' as jon said at that boost level. On the other hand, you would expect it to show up in higher inlet temp.
You running an iron head or aluminum? I was running 18 degrees on my iron head at 30 in the Merkur.

I've never been to lakeland they say the track is very bad there. I could careless about the tracks condition as long as the black part is smooth?

My et isn't very good at the moment because of a few reasons. The main one being i'm running on a 245-45zr17 that is hard to control. The car still run in the 7's with these tires but it's a hit or miss affair, if your to hard on the tires the et might be in the 9's.
I'm still working towards making it go fast at the track.

It's an iron headed car with a pos a-237 cam.

Thanks for the kind words always good to hear.

Ok went to the track tonight and had some interesting results.

I added some timing and got my profec b to working so I could have better control than the gilis valve. I started the night at 20psi and trapped at 82mph. The same as last week with 10psi less.
I then upped the boost to 23psi and made a pass and was rewarded with only about 3mph more. So now i'm at 85mph and 1 psi less then the best traps i've run.
Next pass uped the boost to 24-25psi and gave it 1 degree of timing across the board and went 86 mph.
The run after that I added 2 more dgree's of timing everywhere under boost and gained 1 more mph. Ended the night at 87mph which is still below my best but we are in the middle of a hot summer.

After seeing a video of one of my passes I think there are a few things messing with my mph.
First of all the car looks like it might be spinning the tires in 2nd gear. Not the massive spin but maybe just lightly spinning. Thats just what the video makes me think. I also question traction when i'm chirping 3rd on the track you know traction is an issue. It doesn't even wanna chirp third on the street but i'm also not that hard on it on the street.
Second being that i'm having trouble launching with the new clutch I think the loss of traction right out of the hole might be hurting mph because i'm not able to fully lay into it until I'm at the top of first.

Thats just what I think might be happening if you think differently then let know. I'll be going with a good set of tires before long. It's just not that high on my list when I got alot of other bills to pay.

The a-237 cam just isn't that good of cam for what i'm trying do kiwi. I'd really like to get into an essy cam with 520+ lift. With as poorly as these iron heads flow all the lift I can get will help.

I also hurt the tranny. I think it's time for a positive stop shifter. Or maybe the v-8 tranny mounted to the 2.3 with that gay little bushing just doesn't work for hard usage? I think i'm going back the 4 banger t-5.

What about gears. Are you finishing in third gear or do you get into fourth? If you are pushing the revs past where your motor makes power in third gear to cross the line you might not gain much with more boost. I cross the 1/8th just into fourth at 87 mph. I could rev out third but my ranger cam is not happy at thoes revs. I shift into fourth right before the line and I know it's loosing time with the extra shift. I think my MPH would go down reving out third but on the other hand I might pick up some ET be leaving it in third.
11.42@120 no wideband.

I just wanted to update this.

I changed around the engine combo and retuned it on the dyno. The car is making more power but same as last time at the dyno it didn't get to play with timing and made some runs at 30psi and 17 total timing. I'll change this when I get to testing it at the track.

I'm also working to put a wideband 02 in the car. The sds has a data logging set up avalible now. I t logs the afr at the psi lvls and also I beleive at a certian rpm. A few of my friends have pushed me towards the wideband along with some of the guys in this thread.

I'll be back out at the track shortly and the et's are going to go down and the mph is going to climb. I hope it to be around 95 but won't know for a few days...

Also working on addressing the tranny problem but if it going to die might as well be at the track. It's only like 5 miles from me so a tow isn't a big deal.

Reeve i'm coming through the traps at the top of 3rd gear. Not sure exact rpm but it's higher then I would like.

Dyno time also indicates that because of the gearing i'm shifting it higher then need be. I have been shifting at around 7k to keep it from dropping out of boost but the power is falling off that high up.

Jon it's a v-8 t5 with 2.95 first.

Also maybe time to play with the cam position a bit to try and extend the power curve higher.
Wait or maybe lower to get the boost up faster.
Damnit I don't know LOL

Wouldn't you normally retard the timing as you increase boost?

I was always under the impression that you wanted to retard 1 degree for every PSI of boost.
