#11

I thought I posted this yesterday but..
268 degrees advertised duration; 19/69/64/24 = exhaust closes 19 ATDC; exhaust opens 69 BBDC; Intake closes 64 ABDC; intake opens 24 BTDC.

Awesome! With a little math, that should get you pretty close to the correct centerline!

Should be able to get it close enough to run and then tune from there I hope.
If anyone has different numbers that are solid I'd like to see them.

Thanks for the help.

I actually have the upper back cover you are looking for, and I would be willing to LOAN it to you to set it up, But I want it back!
Just pay shipping both way.

Howard ~ I'm gonna stir the pot ( Big Grin ) by asking you: "How is Dennis gonna remove your 'upper back cover' w/o taking the t/belt and sprockets back off after aligning 'em?" (that's why I suggested cutting it into a big "horseshoe" that could be slid in & out behind the sprockets from the top).  <stickpoke><razz>

I assumed he would use my cover to make permanent witness marks on his engine, and use those to set up his engine, or remove it after setting up his cams and making permanent marks for his adjustable cam gears.
IMO, he has to use the stock gears to set the stock timing, and can use the marks on the valve cover to put a mark on the stock gears, swap in the adjustable gear and file a mark on it.

Can you take a digital photo of the upper part of the timing cover along with a length reference (such as a ruler)? I may be able to make a scale drawing from it.
However I don't have any stock pulleys so the marks on the timing cover may not be enough unless you know the relationship between the marks on the pulleys and the keyways in the cams.

It sounds to me like you're better off using the "intake/exhaust centerline" method, Dennis ~ as Howard suggested earlier. Easy peasy with a dial indicator.......SOMEBODY has got those figures with whatever cams (stock?) you're using, even if you have to ask over on (gasp) "TurboBricks.com"  <eek>

For this type of combo, where absolutely no OE anything exists, plus aftermarket cams, the ONLY proper way is to set centerlines in a known good starting point.

People make this WAY more complicated than it needs to be to simply get it running. Set the exhaust centerline to 112 ish, and the intake to 110. Start there. You will be within a few degrees of where it needs to be. As duration gets larger, the intake centerline will "want" to be advanced relative to that, and the exhaust centerline will want to be retarded relative to that. The exhaust moves much less than intake for a given speed range. Again, with this kind of combo plan on getting it close then moving both on the dyno. There is no "magic" that gets it perfect.
