Hoping to find motivation to get the Turbocoupe back on the road. It's been sitting since Oct '19 after focusing on other projects, but am going to be putting the T5 back in after swapping it out for a c4 a couple years ago. The manual trans was so much more fun in this car, so...back in it goes! The cats will have to find another windshield slide. Undecided

Ok, it has been a month and a half now. Is it back on the road yet? Cool

Almost! Will be back on the road after getting it tagged/insured. Just drove it around the neighborhood but is real nice to have the 5spd again. Also need to figure out what to do about the downpipe/intermediate pipe. It was all cobbled together after jiffy lube bent the crap out of it and is almost touching the ground now.

Got the free $7 charge for the yearly inspection. Too gracious I tell ya. Rolleyes I just let out a big sigh, got in the car, and left. It also pulled out the wires for the WB02 sensor when the guy tried backing up(which made bend #2). Never had another yearly inspection done there after that mess.

Time to update your sig line. No more C4.
Make sure the money pit part stays....come to think of it that should be automatically included in everyones sig line, lol!

Funny part is that the car was free(given to me by John Moller back in '05). It wasn't a money pit at first...what happened? Huh  Oh yeah, I started modding it. It's become more and more of a money pit over time, and 16 years later...shows no signs of stopping. Still needs paint and body. Cry

That shatter in the windshield was from a can of r134 exploding and shooting into the windshield. The other can went into the pass door(door panel was off at the time) and made an outward dent in the door. Woulda payed money to see that.

2 months later. Back on the road yet?

Playing around with fuel filters this weekend. My inj duty cycle is way too high for the fuel system I have and suspect I may have the wrong pre filter.
Last track outing 2 weeks ago the brake lights wouldn't shut off. Was amazed I couldn't find a brake light switch locally. Didn't Ford put that same switch in a bunch of different models? Oh well, ordered a motorcraft switch and new pigtail from rockauto and brake lights are good again.

Debating on selling my other TC as I may not ever get to it. It is just a roller with a cage and built rearend so probably won't get much for it.

I hear ya. I've had the 84 SVO sitting in 1 nay of the shop since I bought it last year. Now my last TC has been sitting in the other bay for 2 months, just waiting on an inspection since it's making some noises and I haven't really driven it in 3 years. But the 84 GT turbo has been running good...

87 & 88 TurboCoupe

Yep, back on the road! Just finished up the new stainless downpipe yesterday and finally got rid of the wastegate dump(which sounded like crap). Now, it's plumbed into the exhaust stream. Half way through the project, realized I needed another 45 degree pipe(which I didn't have), so I had to join the 2 pipes to "make" one. Tons of booger welds later, it appears to be holding up just fine with a tiny leak. Should be ok and will help get rid of the moisture in the DP. Added a 5 bolt v-band outlet at the turbo for ease, and out with the old stinger elbow from 2009(that Jiffy Lube kinked up). Broke the bottom 2 bolts flush with the housing on the turbo, so there's only 3 bolts holding it on. No leaks that I can tell, but suspect that it may lift a little when it gets into high boost. Not going to remove the turbo unless it develops a crazy leak. Added some high temp sealant for extra insurance. Man, I'm so glad to have a 5spd back in this car!
