I am having all kinds of weird problems with my car now!
#1

OK I am having all kinds of problems. My car is idleing like crap. misses and bucks up to 3000rpm then starts pinging at anymore than 1/4 throttle. I have retarded it to 2-3 deg befor TDC and still pings at the same rpm and throttle. I have turned the boost down to 12psi and noe real change just a little quieter. I was also rolling the windows down and when the stoped the car died and the tach needle stuck at like 10,000 rpm or full on. The car starts right up but runs like crap. Anyone had this problem befor? How do I get the tack back to normal? Do I need to just sell this car? Its starting to piss me off. What the hell is wrong with this peice of crap?
Thanks guys
Shawn

Have you checked the vehicle reference voltage and the signal return to see if they are reading properly? Also what is the voltage on the white with black wire coming off the vane meter with the engine running?

Settle down, Shawn - sooner or later you're gonna get that thing runnin' right and you'll be happy as a clam! Any codes? Almost sounds like a fuel-delivery problem, like low pressure, plugged filter, bad pump, etc. (which, of course, doesn't account for the tach prob). Could also be insufficient spark potential - i.e. bad coil or TFI (check inside the dist cap for carbon tracking or moisture). Also, try pullin' the spout connector, set the timing to about 10-12* and drive it without putting the spout connector back on. Still do it? I'm sorta EEC challenged, so maybe the other guys will have some better suggestions! [Image: smile.gif]

Sorry turboalpine I am still kinda stupid on the electrical system stuff. What is the vehicle reference voltage and signal return? Im sure I will understand when you tell me but for the life of me I can remember. The ignition has been slowly getting weeker but I dont know why. I have swapped just about every ignition part there is(All ford stuff).
And it hasnt change anything. I used to run my plug gap at .030 at 15deg and 22psi. Now I have to run .024 plug gap to keep the car from missing like a soft rev limiter. I have rewired the Alternator and coil wires solderd all the connection that someon put crimp style connectors on. Still nothing. I am not very good with wiring and am gettin really pissed off. I will also try what you said too turboray. Thanks for trying to help guys.

That problem sounds like a power delivery thing. I would double check the battery connections and all the engine compartment grounds. It is possible you tore one up with all that new power.

some wiring diagrams and by some , I mean none at all.

Just going to warn you , but if you don't put the spout back in with the timing set a 10-12 it will be a total dog and will probably backfire each time you let off the gas. If you want to try and drive it without using the spout connector bump the timing up to 35 degrees BTC.

It`s possible you stretched the timing belt playing race car hero w/it.This would cause your car to be running way too advanced=pinging etc.

Sounds like an electrical short somewhere. Check your wires, and clean the connections everywhere. I'm guessing the electrical problem may be closer to the computer if it's causing multiple problems.

Ok I have checked a few things. First I checked the vam voltage with key on is .30v with the door full open it is 4.78v
Running at idle 900rpm voltage is 1.09v.
Tha battery voltage at idle seems a little high (but I dont know) 15.25V. Everything still lines up on the timing belt. Could the voltage regulator cause a problem like this?
What should I check next? Or should I just pour a couple gallons of gas on the car and set it on fire?

Not sure from your symptoms.
But, your timing belt sounds as though it has jumped a tooth. Have you checked this?
