well i had the car running and when i would try to start it the tach would move when it was turning over. and it was runnin but i think the igniton box went out. cause they tach died and so did the engine. and i checked the coil and its good but there is no power at the plugs. could this be the ignition box of what? and is there a way to check it?

please help its weird cause it will be running and then just die and if i unplug the igniton system and let it set for about 10 mins it starts right up.

if your refering to the TFI then i would say yes.those are the signs that that would indicate its bad,you can get it tested to make sure.

ok this box (on the 79) is located in front of the driver underneith all the buzzers and says durateck 2 ignition. and how can this be tested. i was told yesterday by a ford guru that its goin bad. I have 3 from same era ford trucks will they work??

i was lookin at the ignition box and i had another one hooked up but left the stock one in the location but there but there is 2 bundles of wires that come off the igntion but one goes to the buzzers for the turbo and the other one is for the igntion. what else had these buzzers cause i really dont want to by another stock one. right now i have one off of an old ford truck from the same era and it works but now my tach doesnt work. so what should i do?

and also yesterday i was warmin up the engine to change the oil and my tach stoped workin. it is the stock tach and will jump every once in a while. is it worth fixing or just put an aftermarket tach in there? also does anyone have the wiring diagram for the tach to rewire it? thanks

Is it a 4cyl truck? If not...go to JY and find any 4 cyl box from a similar year and see what happens
