Import faceoff

Brian - it's Collinsville. About 7 or 8 miles east (or is it north?) of the track. It's on the other side of town from the way you're probably coming in.

Tom and I are talking about splitting a room and could take another 1 or 2 people to cut costs. I might come down Friday and sleep in my car that night so I only need a room for Sat. night.

I've been hearing rumors about quite a few more people planning on showing. I hope you can put up a shout out here just to encourage anyone who is on the fence about it. C'mon, don't be shy. I plan on doing my absolute best to be there barring any last minute catastrophic engine failure or a really bad weather forecast.

Thanks Dave! Thats is what I figured after I was looking at the map. I had google maps up earlier on the street view and went driving around just to check things out.

Did I miss the hotel name somewhere and if I didn't could you say which one please. I prefer the Roach Coach Express Inn. haha

I will have a couple people/crew/buddies coming to help out so I will need a whole room for sure.

I don't know which one JD is looking at, I usually just go for the cheapest.

I just got the following PM from Fred House, aka <font color=navy>fourswild</font>, perhaps in response to <font color=blue>THIS</font> (<-- link) post.

"Ya I'm still racing the Probe. How is the car count? Is there any interest in a 4.00 pro-tree heads-up class? Thanks, Fred"

I've never met him and he's never posted on TF (even tho he registered on 10-29-06), but his profile indicates that he's from PA. Sooooo.......perhaps some of y'all on the East Coast, who know Fred, could invite him to the big gathering/race. But, if his car is still as fast as some of the videos I've seen, no one is gonna want to line up with him heads up, lol.

Below, is a copy of the PM response I sent to Fred House:

"<font color=navy>Hi, Fred........nice to finally "meet" you, lol! The car count has been steadily increasing each week and, if everyone who [i]SAYS they're gonna show, actually DOES......there should be a great turnout. There's a running count of confirmed and tentative attendees throughout the event thread ( LINK ).

Unfortunately for me, I won't be able to attend way over there on the "Right Coast" - but you are certainly invited and I'm sure everyone would love to meet you and see your car run. As for heads up.....LOL - if your car still performs even close to what I've seen in videos, I doubt if anyone will wanna line up against you without a handicap.

I don't know if you've met any of the other TF members that reside in your neck of the woods, but according to the "sign-up sheet" (aka, those who've said they'll attend)......there should be a few 8-sec cars: Dave Flanders & Joe Laramee (confirmed) and possibly Jon Huber.

Also, a few 9-second entries have said they'll attend, including Steve Gasish, Jr. and a new member, "Stangman", who's still sorting out a relatively-new car that has already run 9.58 (he'll be towing all the way from Texas). Matt Culpepper has also said he'll be there and he runs in the low-10's.

To find out who else will be there (who I've forgotten), please review the thread. BTW - near the end, you'll find that I took the liberty of "reprinting" your PM'd "inquiry" about the event.

If possible it would be neat to add a "farthest driven" award and maybe best package since its a bracket. I suggest these simply because I have 0% chance at getting either.
