Hello everyone. New guy from Michigan here. My toy is an '86 SVO, 44K original miles. The car sat in a garage for 17 years, with fuel in the tank, dropped in a battery, hit the key, it fired right up. So far the usual, brakes, tires, hoses, new posi clutches( the reason it was parked). The mods have been few at this point, cold air kit, turbo back catless 2 1/2" dual exhaust series 40 Flowmasters, adjustable fuel regulator, SPEC Racing light weight flwheel and clutch. If the boost gauge is to be believed, it ran 16 psi max boost before cold air kit and exhaust, and 20 psi now. Had this car three years now

Welcome! My SVO sat for 14 years, and research showed it would be wise to drain the T-5 trans. Moisture tends to build-up inside from sitting and can cause damage once you resume driving.

All the fluids were dumped and replaced. This car had been well maintained, the problem was the guy knew nothing about cars. He changed the diff fluid using conventional fluid and didn't put in friction modifier. Once the clutches started making noise, he parked it. He had also used the wrong PCV valve. It had blown so much oil into the bell housing that it made a 1/16 inch layer of ,basically, tar on the inside. In my 40 years of wrenching I've never seen that before.

My name's Dan. I see by your signature you have a turbo Ranger. Had an 85 Ranger that I put a TC drivetrain in. That was almost 20 years ago. The SVO I have now is not the first turbo car I've had. Had a brand new 86 TC back in the day.
