WELCOME to T/F, David! Is your 2000 Ranger already equipped with a 4-cyl Lima engine, and - if so - are you planning to build and turbocharge it?  OR.....will you be replacing it with a separately-built turbocharged 2.3 or 2.5 engine? What tranny does it have.....M50D 5spd or A4LD automatic?  <shrug>

yea, it had a 2.5 5 speed it lasted 350,000 miles before bad fuel killed it, i am building a 2.3 out of the old 2.5. i have ordered pistons and rods, cam and valve train from bopart, and some other stuff from esslinger. the hard part is getting the electronics working right i still have to get some more parts for it. thanks

The nodular-iron 2.5 crank in yer engine is about as good as you'll get w/o getting a $$$ billet version, David ~ It's been known to regularly survive 700+ hp with strapped main caps and studs. BUT......I've been told that the "pump-in-block" blocks that the 2.5 cranks came in are the weakest that Ford ever produced.  I've never personally laid eyes on one, but supposedly there are "windows" in the main webbing......DUNNO!

The best "small-journal" block for yer 2.5 crank is the one produced from '89 thru '94. I THINK it can be identified by a casting number that begins with "E8........".  <shrug>

hi, i went with the 2.3 parts is because almost nobody has the 2.5 parts for turbo right now or you order the parts and have to wait for ever to get them. there is not alot of 4 cyl. stuff around here that is any good and i wanted to keep mostly ranger. i do have acouple 2.5 and a 2.3 crank, out of 4 heads the original 2.5 head was the only one that was not cracked i have not done much with the ford 4cyl in almost 20 years. i bought the truck 12 years ago and decided to redo it. is the pimp'ed a standalone or a piggyback system ?

Stinger's PimP is a stand alone ECU. It will come with a base tune to get you started, once you get it installed it has a 'self learning' mode.
Stinger has a page on his site for tech and has great tech support too.

You're welcome David. You will find this is a tight 'family' and people are willing to help out other members. When I was searching for swap info way back in 1999 I found the forum and joined in 2001. I didn't know squat about computer controlled cars and the guys here helped me out.
There is also the archives going back to 2000 with great info so searching will help too. I'm going to send you a PM with my contact info.

PiMPx is for 95 and older Rangers so it won't work in yours unless you swap in an older harness and convert it to work in your chassis.

thanks, that is what i thought it was saying on your web site, i also heard the ecm on mine can't be changed enough to work but that's what i heard, i might have to do that with the harness if nothing else i can do,
