NMRA Bowling Green

Went to the NMRA race in Bowling Green to race True Street ....

Got car dialed in enough to win the 10.00 average. Right about 140 cars, my junk was 9th best average of the finishers.

During the True Street, we are also qualifying for the Tremec Stick Shootout on Sunday. Qualified 3rd for that but lost 2nd round. We was qualified based on our e street average, but I couldn’t run any quicker than 10.00 per my safety equipment.

Here is the story from Tremec and Evan Smith with some pictures.

Solid weekend for the only 2.3 there racing. Going to have to step up the safety game this winter (roll cage).

Thanks Mike.

Nowadays, it would get more attention if it was coyote swapped for the general population. Most of the stick Guys know me well, and we all respect the hell out of each other no matter our power of choice.

I vary boost depending on weather and what I am trying to run. At this race in good air and 10.00 I was running 37# and 6300 rpm launch ...

I have run Sunoco 112 this season. I usually run Renegade Fuel but with Covid I didn’t buy a drum and have been buying 5 gallons at a time and can get the Sunoco easy. I might stick with that going forward

What do you have now, a 4 pt or 6 pt bar? Get the safety stuff in and let it eat!

Headgasket is now copper with o-ring in the block and a receiver groove in the head. It went through this entire season without a failure.

My timing table is aggressive, I wouldn’t suggest anyone reference it.

Car currently has a 6 point. The roll cage thing is a big decision for me. I’m not really going to ever go a lot quicker, mostly like to race around 6.50 index (10.teens 1/4 mile). Either index racing or bracket stuff. I just don’t want to add the cage, NHRA license (have IHRA) and all the addition stuff that comes with that for a couple of races a year.lots of additional, (and reoccurring) cost that come with it.

I get the license thing. Memphis Motorsports Park closed many years ago. When it finally reopened, it opened as an IHRA track instead of NHRA. Not sure why, the NHRA Mid South Nationals were awesome for years. But any of the 'road trip' races seem to be at NHRA tracks. Didn't NHRA take over IHRA? Why is it still separate licenses?

Very separate organizations.

In reality, lots of sportsman tracks, especially in my area are a IHRA.strong focus on sportsman racers with their programs.

NHRA is the gold standard, But shitty with cross over stuff and a lot of groups use their rule package for safety (NMRA and NMCA). I can get the NHRA license with a reduced number of passes with my IHRA license, it’s just another annual cost. Add in chassis cert, and all the other stuff I struggle with all the cost for what amounts to a couple of races a year
