The best additive I`ve found for auto trannys is called LubeGuard. It comes in a red bottle w/a ribbed neck.It claims to create the old Sperm Whale oil w/pig tallow & additives instead. All the trans shops by me use it & I`ve had many auto trans last 150k-200 or more using it w/proper maint.

Yeah, it's popular out here on the left coast too. It's primary use, however, is to modify the latest Mercon & Dexron fluids so they're compatible with Mopar, import and other trannies. It's heavily advertised in "Nat'l Oil & Lube News" (A fast-lube industry publication) where they promote that inventory can be cut substantially, thus saving $. [Image: smile.gif]

Chris, I just re-read yer post and spotted something I missed earlier. You did mean "Sperm Whale" and not "Whale Sperm", RIGHT? [Image: biggrin.gif]

OK,OK,OK,I flushed it out with two gallons of mercon dexronIII!, I didnt have any problems with the trans, I am just trying to make this POS A4LD tranny last as long as I can.
I read on a 5.0 board awhile back about how the whale sperm was a trick for auto trannys, and that it was a big "secret" among the "gurus" of tranny performance.

There`s two of them,I think the one you`re refering to comes in a black ribbed neck bottle. That`s the stuff for import trannys.
