PASS TIME!!
Ok just for entertainment!  well curiosity as well!
Heres my latest turboford build! 1984 tbird (302 AOD 7.5 rear car) it now has a 1986 turbo coupe 2.3T, motor is bone stock with factory slidr cam, but kind of gone through (bearings, gaskets, lap valves, new springs and valve seals) open 3" down pipe , Gillis valve, K&N cone filter, stock T3 @ 15# boost, no inter cooler, mildly ported E6, stock v8 EFI pump and factory FPR for now 3.73 8.8 ,fresh C4 with pinto converter and shift kit, LA3, brown tops, big Vam, 8x26x16 Hoosiers,87 snow flake wheels, front sway bar removed, full weight street car no gutting! WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK IT WILL RUN? 15.00?

That's a pretty good guess, Fred....... I wuz gonna say, "somewhere between 14.9 & 15.2!"  Traction will be a major factor! BTW ~ If you were to raise the boost to, say, 20-ish....... it might run 14.5-ish. Just make sure you're running the highest octane gas available, possibly with an octane booster.  <shrug> Report back with the results!

GOOD LUCK! <thumbup>

agreed Ray! still putting some parts together for the fuel system so i can (more safely ) turn the boost up to 18-19 psi ! it runs and drives right now with 5 lbs and it kind of smokes like maybe this old T3 is no good but it could just need some miles to get everything hot and blown out! lol ill keep you posted if i get it finished this season but it will be tested and ill let you know!

sorry guys ! i was a little under the weather last couple of weeks! but before that i shut the tbird project down because of a smoking turbo, i finally put it back together yesterday 70* temps helped with the motivation! then i noticed a water pump leak ,but other than that seems to run ok, I think i have one in the TF junk pile  Smile   i will keep you posted!

If you're gonna replace a leaking w/pump, I strongly urge you to get a new one....... they only cost about 20-30 bux! <shrug>

C'ya again in 4-1/2 months, lol.  <stickpoke>

C'ya again in 4-1/2 months, lol.  <stockpile> too late Ray! i had a WP I took off a motor that was almost new (that's why I saved it) it's in and running and no leaks! i just took a nice ride into town for a full tank of 93 and a car wash! (it was on empty, and it had 87 from the 302 that was in this car) it runs pretty well but there will be no racing till I put a fuel pump and an adjustable regulator! I installed a fuel pressure gauge before it took it out for the ride! 30psi at idle and 35psi with hose off! once it starts making boost it falls down to 20psi!  Cry

Congrats on your leak-free used w/pump, Fred! <thumbup> As you may know, fuel-rail pres should be 39psi with the (1) Key on engine off [KOEO], OR (3) Engine idling with the manifold-reference hose disconnected from the FPR. With the hose reattached, f/pres should rise commensurate with boost. I.e., 8 psi boost = 47 psi f/p (39+8)....... 13 psi boost = 52 psi f/p (39+13....... etcetera, etcetera.

Sooo....... as you've apparently surmised, you need a new f/pump with more capacity/flow. I suggest a name brand 255 pph or greater pump. IMO, a (heavy) adjustable FPR is totally unnecessary and makes the fuel rail more susceptible to cracking from engine vibrations and 4X extra weight. The stock Bosch FPR is plenty good 'nuff (having been run with several 400hp+ combos)!!  <shrug>
