Plugging stock location dipstick tube hole?
#1

For my new motor, I'm running a Kevko Racing F800RR pan. It has a prevision for an aftermarket dipstick. I will be going this route since the pan has slightly more depth than the stock pan. My question is, what's the best way to plug the stock location dipstick tube hole. I rather not drill and tape this hole since the short block is almost complete. I'm thinking like a small cap/freeze plug. Thoughts, suggestions? Light coat of RTV on there too?

Ditto on the small cupped core/freeze plug (available at most A/P stores). Measure the hole with calipers and get a steel plug to match. Smear a little RTV or Teflon pipe sealant in the hole with a Q-Tip and drive it in with a pin punch (not too deep….just so the rim is slightly past the surface of the hole).  <thumbup>
