Ported Intake
#1

I'm on the fence about ordering a ported/gutted Intake (from Bo Port) I guess I'd like some feedback on what to expect in terms of performance. He just ported my aluminum head (beautiful job by the way) So anyone who installed A gutted/ported intake, how do you like it? and what are its characteristics? (low end vs top/gains)
Thanks

Even the best ported intakes are "close to" a restriction on a well ported head.

What's the point of a good head if your choking it with the intake?

Most everything you do to increase performance on a 2.3 is going to sacrifice low RPM for High RPM.

Excellent! Good information, thanks Bob (will be going with Bo's intakes)

Your response to Bob's post prompted me to go to Bo's website (LINK) and I don't see any intakes being offered besides ported OEM versions. Is that what you've opted to "go with"?

IIRC.......Bo has posted flow-test results of various intakes bolted to one of his ported heads, revealing the flow both WITH and W/O  ~ and I THINK there was a fairly significant flow reduction even with those that were ported, as Bob alluded to. BUT..... DUNNO where to find that thread. <shrug>

I can't speak to other vendors porting but my intake from Tim was a max effort attempt. To the point of cutting holes to get into places and welding them back up. That intake still flowed less than the head. Not by much, but less.
