I'd like to install a Ranger roller cam in my stock 88 turbo slider head. Can I just change the cam and rockers and leave the same lifters and springs? Are the cam specs the same as the slider?

In many instances, Ranger/Mustang roller cams are slightly-less aggressive than their' slider counterparts. Sooo.......if your springs and HLA's are working well now, they should be fine with the RR. What they provide is longevity.......especially with the re-formulated oils offered today that don't protect well against wear with slider/solid cams and distributor gears.

Don't get me wrong, however, it's a good cam with a lot of low-end "grunt". In fact, most folks find that it works best when retarded 3-4°, in order to move the torque peak up a little higher in the RPM range (where it might otherwise taper off). <thumbup>

I liked the Ranger Roller I installed in my SVO.
IMO, the HLAs are fine, but your springs are over 30 years old, and have probably lost some of their strength. I installed Comp Cams 990 springs and retainers, which allowed me to bump the seat pressure from the stock to 128lbs, which increased the usable RPMs a BUNCH! I was able to turn 6500 RPMs easy!
I only used them for about 5000 miles, and offer them to you for cheap if you are interested.

What is the part number on these springs, or maybe a link?

As my comment said, they are Comp Cams 990 springs.
