SVO motor mount options
#1

what options do we have for SVO motor mounts? both of mine are shot and I can't find a left one in stock anywhere

I know 23parts.com sells a poly set but I was trying to avoid spending $200 on mounts right now

I assume the 87-93 2.3 mounts won't fit the car side?

The standard 2.3 mounts will work, but you loose the damper. 83-84 TCs used the same mounts as the 87-93 2.3 cars.

The issue you have with the later mounts is that you also need the brackets that bolted to the K-member for the mounts to attach to. Those are harder to find. This is why when I was doing the mounts, I revised mine to replace the whole mount assy, instead of having people hunt down those factory brackets.

.
Are the SVO mounts different from regular 2.3 Mustang mounts? It's interesting that all 3 brands of L/H motor mounts listed on Rock Auto are "out-of-stock" = LINK !!  DUNNO what's goin' on with THAT! <shrug>

The SVOs used the big rubber isolators, like the early (79-82) 2.3/2.3T cars. They added the damper shocks to control the excessive engine movement. I don't think the isolators were any different.

Not certain what was used in the non-SVO 2.3 Mustangs in 83-84. Prob the same as the TCs.

The 83-84 TC mounts are identical to the 87-93 2.3NA mounts. 85 TC mounts are similar to the 83-84's, but the mounts are different as are the adapter brackets.

(86 was when they changed mounting styles on the TC k-members)

thanks for the info!
I may try to track down the brackets from a salvage yard and get new 87-93 motor mounts
