Swap help.
#1

So I have a 1990 Ranger im doing a 2.3t swap in. I recently got the motor, harness( what I believe is the full harness) and ecu out of a 87 thunderbird. I realize the 87 harness is a nightmare I’m just wondering what connectors I need and what connectors I do not need. I do not have the extra money for the standalone hence why I’m going to use the factory harness. I just need some assistance on what wires to use and what wires I can get rid of. Thanks!

VAM connector and coil connector should be all you need. Maybe TPS depending on which throttle body/TPS you use. This is assuming you're using an 87-88 TC ECU and a distributor rather than the Ranger dual plug ignition. Our 91-93 turbo swap page is about 99% the same as the Ranger swap.

Use the internet to study the PCM pinouts... FREE. Google: PCM pinouts for (your 87 Tbird) and your 90 Ranger. The type of ignition you choose is an important Factor. T-bird has a distributor ign. I believe the Ranger does not. The Ranger uses an ICM and is a distributorless ign. for an 8 spark plug head.
