Swapping in T3 for IHI on 88 TC motor
#1

Hi folks - Charlie at Evergreen is rebuilding an 86 SVO T3 for swapping my IHI out and I wanted to ask the group what I will need in the way of retrofitting the T3 for the water and oil drain lines. I already have the oil feed line from Esslinger.

1) Are there specific fittings needed for the T3 water feed and return openings? Can I reuse the IHI ones? If not, who sells them?

2) Will the stock oil drain line from the IHI work on the T3? If not, what can I use there? Make something up w AN fittings?

3) Anything else I need to be considering? I have the turbo elbow to 3" dump pipe already..

Thanks in advance for the help!

Yes you need some fittings for the water lines. Don't remember the specific ones but we're easy to find. You need the drain line for the t3. Depending on the down pipe you might need to elongate the holes for the retainer.

Kinda OFF TOPIC ~ but your 86 TC originally came off the Ford assembly line with a T3......... not an IHI!  <shrug>

Ray-I have an 88 TC motor in a Lotus 7. The IHI from that is being swapped out for the T3 per suggestion/direction of Charlie at Evergreen who had a TC and loves the motors.

Thanks Mike. Once I get the T3 back in my hands it'll be easier.

Was I hallucinating, OR...... did you edit your original post? I could've sworn you posted that the "IHI" turbo was from an '86 TC. (getting old isn't for sissies) <slaphead>
