steering question.....
#1

Ok i've just got done with swapping in new springs and polyurethane and rubber (in the rear uppers) on the SVO. I just got it all aligned yesterday. It feels great except there is still an annoying "tug or chopping" in the steering. If im holding the wheel for a long sweeper the pressure on the steering wheel increases and decreases. Is this just the "nature of the beast" or is it a steering box or control arm bushing problem?

it sounds like the power steering to me, almost like it needs fluid.(you do check that right?) could the pump be going up?
...so you have a V8...isn't that cute...

i'll check the fluid level....last autocross i went to it was fine..but that was a couple months ago. I guess if i disconnected the powersteering pump it and the pressure irregularities are still there it points to something else right?

The inner and outer tie rod ends are probably worn out.

Do you trust whoever did the alignment? Check the toe in.

well the local NTB did the alignment, and i had the problem before the work on the suspension, infact its one of the things that prompted it. Are the tie rod ends replaceable or are they part of the whole non-serviceable balljoint stuff?

Sounds like air bubbles in the steering lines. Try a flush and fill.

There is a great article on NATO on how to do it easy.
